Because it’s the summer, and I have nothing better to do, I put together another video. This one highlights the top players on offense and defense, Braylon Edwards and Charles Woodson:

Sweet. After the jump, I’ll list my honorable mentions, and post the Top 15 lists of The Wolverine writers Michael Spath and Matt Pargoff.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Offense: Adrian Arrington, B.J. Askew, Jason Avant, David Baas, Jeff Backus, Chris Floyd, Drew Henson, Jon Jansen, Trezelle Jenkins, Bennie Joppru, Mercury Hayes, Rod Payne, Aaron Shea, Tai Streets, Amani Toomer, Maurice Williams

Comments: I realized after the fact that I went pretty light on the offensive line on this list, and it shows with the honorable mentions. Arguments could easily be made for Avant, Henson, Shea, Streets, and Toomer making the list on the skill side, although I don’t think Henson played nearly enough to merit consideration. I loved watching Chris Floyd destroy people, and very nearly put him on this list just because he’s my favorite fullback in Wolverine history. Joppru had hands of glue, but Tuman gets the nod over him by a hair.

Defense: David Bowens, Shawn Crable, Carl Diggs, Larry Foote, Brandon Graham, Victor Hobson, Jason Horn, Steve Morrison, Lawrence Reid, Ernest Shazor, Sam Sword, Terrance Taylor, Gabe Watson, Josh Williams

Comments: Sword probably deserved a spot on the list, which was already linebacker-heavy to begin with. Crable was a TFL machine, but never seemed to hit his full potential and took a while to even come close. Foote had a great senior season, but underachieved otherwise, although I could see how his last year would merit strong consideration. Shazor wasn’t quite good enough against the pass, although the hit against Purdue almost put him in on sentimentality alone. David Bowens makes this list easily if he plays more than two years, and he very nearly did anyway. Graham would have made it if I knew the outcome of his senior season before it ever happened.

Special Teams: Hayden Epstein, Adam Finley, Darnell Hood, Carl Tabb

Comments: Epstein may not have been the world’s best placekicker, but his power on kickoffs really changed the game with his impact on field position. Finley gets credit for being a solid punter and for saving the Wolverines from Philip Brabbs and Troy Nienberg. Hood and Tabb were the only two guys who I ever noticed solely for their impact on special teams.

THE REAL EXPERTS’ LISTS

It’s amazing how three people can watch the same games and come up with such different lists, but such is the nature of sport. One thing we can all agree on, however, is that Woodson and Edwards were awesome.
